He was married three times. His first wife being Jane Nelson Chambers (1842-1865). They were married on February 26, 1865 and passed away only a few months later.
They had one child that I have found:
Mary Alice Chambers Stillions (1857-1924) - buried in Allens Creek Cemetery, Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. (her father is listed as being Jacob Chambers, but her birthdate precedes their marriage date by a about eight years. This would have made Jane 14. This is not unheard of but it unlikely that they would have waited so long to get married if she was pregnant. There is further reason to believe that this is not a child of either of them as her headstone (which is newer from where it was moved during the construction of Lake Monroe) states her birth date as being 1846. If this date is her actual birth date then she would not have been a child of either of them. If anyone has any further information, please let me know.)
His second wife was Martha E. Walker Chambers (1844-1870). They were married on March 12, 1870 and she passed away a few months later. She is buried nearby in Chambers Cemetery with their newborn daughter.
They had one child:
Infant Daughter Chambers (1870-1870) - buried in Chambers Cemetery, Monroe County, Indiana (buried with her mother; both died in childbirth)
His third and last wife was Isabelle/Isabella "Belle" Walker Chambers (1846-1931). They were married on June 26, 1873. She is buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Monroe County, Indiana.

We now stop at the grave of Jane Nelson Chambers.
Born: January 2, 1842, Indiana
Died: September 20, 1865, Clear Creek, Monroe County, Indiana
She was the first wife of Jacob G. Chambers (1835-1882).
I noticed that there is a small cut-out on the face of her headstone. It is possible at one that there was a photograph, tin-type, or just some sort of memento that was tucked into there.

Our final stop at the Chambers Cemetery is at the grave of Hiram Chambers.
Born: June 19, 1828, Monroe County, Indiana
Died: October 6, 1852, Clear Creek, Monroe County, Indiana
He was the son of David Chambers (1792-1861) and Sarah "Sally" Meadows Chambers (1796-1877). They were married on August 29, 1814 are both buried in the Chambers #1 Cemetery in Fairfax, Monroe County, Indiana.

William Pheamster Chambers (1818-1891) - buried in Chambers #1 Cemetery, Fairfax, Monroe County, Indiana (a note states that his grave was moved to Allen's Creek Cemetery, but I found of no evidence of that when I visited. Normally, my work would end here, but we were lucky enough on this occasion to be able to go further into the woods that surround this lovely cemetery.
As we walked we could see some wooden outbuildings that had obviously seen better days. It is likely that in the days when this was actually the Chambers property, it was a lovely farm. These outbuildings may have been for smaller animals, while the first buildings was likely for horses or cattle, or both.
Walking up the hill, though the budding green foliage, we encountered an outhouse. I didn't get a chance to look inside as it had started to sprinkle and our guide was leading us toward something much more interesting. I could see that the front of the outhouse was in disrepair, the door hanging at an angle.
This structure, which is just behind our destination, seems to have been a well house. The inside of the structure was filled with leaves and other debris as well as what appeared to be an old hot water heater. Trash and other items had been tossed in.
In front of the well house, was what we had come to see. The abandoned remains of the Chambers farmhouse. It was so lovely in its decay. It is a brick structure that has seen better days. The chimney fell at some point, leaving nothing but a pile of rubble. The walls were falling in, filling what had probably been a cellar.
Lois, our guide, is a descendant of the Chambers family that lived on this property. She told us it belonged to John Thomas Chambers and his family. They migrated here from Kentucky, but he was born in Virginia.
One the far side of the farm, there is the remains of an access drive that led up from road (what is now Monroe Dam Road) and to the home site. It is barred off now and inaccessible, due to rutting and the steep nature of it. I think that there may have been a tree or two that had fallen across it.
I believe that Lois stated that this farm was built around 1816, as the family came here just after Indiana became a stated, but just before Monroe County became a county. Please correct me if I am wrong, Lois.
I am not sure how large the farm was, but it had to have been fairly large. Before St Rd. 37 was built, there was easy access to the farm from the Harrodsburg area, but now it is very difficult to get to and requires permission. This is on private property behind a residence and requires a hike to get to. Please do not approach this property on your own.
