Buffalo Cemetery

Today's Walk Through the Tombstones is at Buffalo Cemetery in Brown County, Indiana.  This cemetery is also known as Lockman Cemetery.

This rural cemetery is set just off of State Road 135 near Christiansburg.  It is easily seen, but rather difficult to get to as it is situated up on a hill near the roadside with little access other than the nearby fields which are all surrounded by barbed wire.  On our visit, I had to stand in the road and take photos since I couldn't find a way to actually get into the cemetery.  I apologize for the picture quality for some of them.

~~~~~~~~~~
The first stop is at the grave of Israel Bebout.
Born: July 22, 1815, Jefferson County, Ohio
Died: December 27, 1865, Brown County, Indiana
I don't have any information on his parents or any siblings.
He was married twice. I believe that his first wife was Mary Ann Beall Bebout (1818-1849).  They were married in 1838 and she is buried in Beallsville Old Methodist Cemetery, Monroe County, Ohio with her parents.
She is listed as having four children:
Elizabeth Alma Beabout Hovis (1839-1932) - buried in Hickory Ridge Cemetery, Martin County, Indiana
Citizen Bebout (1841-1921) - buried in Houston Cemetery, Jackson County, Indiana
Bethan C. Bebout Rudolph (1843-1892) - buried in Becks Grove Cemetery, Brown County, Indiana.
Israel Bebout (1847-?) - burial unknown
He married again to Lucinda McClelland Jordan Bebout (?-?).  They were married around 1850 in Ohio.  I am not sure where she is buried.
They likely had nine children, though Elzoura is incorrectly linked to Mary Ann.
Elzoura Bebout (1861-1870) - buried in Buffalo Cemetery, Brown County, Indiana
Here we have the grave of David Beck.
Born: June 19, 1796, Kentucky
Died: May 3, 1856
He was the son of Michael Beck (?-?) and Margaret Daniels Beck (?-?).  I have no information on them or whether or not he had any siblings.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Phillips Beck (1802-1876).  She was born in North Carolina.  A history of Van Buren Township shows that they were married in Washington County, Indiana but there is no date listed.  She is buried near him in Buffalo Cemetery.
They had at ten children, though I have not found information for all of them yet:
Elder David M. Beck (1836-?) burial unknown
William F. Beck (1841-1862) - buried in Buffalo Cemetery, Brown County, Indiana (he served in the Civil War in Co. H, 50th Indiana Infantry)
James Milton Beck (1845-1920) - buried in Becks Grove Cemetery, Brown County, Indiana
Isaac Bridgewater (1790-1874) - buried in Trimble Cemetery, Orange County, Indiana
He was married twice, first to Frances "Frannie" Fisher Bridgewater (1790-1856) on January 22, 1851 in Washington County, Indiana.  She is buried in Buffalo Cemetery nearby.
Laura Henry (1879-1879) - buried in Becks Grove Cemetery, Brown County, Indiana
Her grave is very beautifully carved with the draping fabric and tassels.  I believe that at one time there was a carved urn on the top, but it is long since gone.
