Hindustan Cemetery

Today's Walk Through the Tombstones is at Hindustan Cemetery in Hindustan, Indiana.

We visited this cemetery on August 23, 2015.  This is a nice, well kept cemetery that is still active.  The church was established in 1852.  The oldest part of the cemetery is to the back and to the right of the church with a few older graves off to the left.  If one wishes to visit, they can find it located off of old State Road 37 in Hindustan, Indiana.

UPDATE: (12/19/2016) The original Hindustan Church was established in 1852 as the Separate Baptist Church and the town was laid out around it in 1853.  Hugh Corr, the oldest burial listed in the cemetery, purchased the land where the church and the cemetery sit in the 1820s, settling the area with his family.  After he died, his son Charles, formally established the town of Hindustan.  In the early 20th century the original church burnt down and a new one was quickly built.  This building still stands today and is in regular use.
