He was married twice, but I am not sure which was his first wife or his second. Their names are Nancy E. Adams (?-?) and Mary K. Adams (1841-1919). Both of them applied for his pension after his death. Mary's name is carved on the opposite side of his headstone, but I am not sure where Nancy is buried.

He enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 22nd Indiana Infantry, Company C, on July 15, 1861. He was commissioned into the Field & Staff Indiana 145th Infantry on February 22, 1865. He had numerous promotions finally being promoted on March 13, 1865 to Brigadier General for his "gallant and meritorious services".

His second wife was Temperance Jones Fansler (1827-1865) who is also buried in East Hill Cemetery. Coincidentally, she was Mary's older sister. They were married on August 31, 1851.
His third wife was Rebecca Fesler (1807-1851). She is also buried in East Hill Cemetery.
His fourth wife was Mary A. Brown Fesler (1834-1921). She is buried in East Hill Cemetery.

He was taken as a prisoner of war in Newtown, Virginia on May 24, 1862. After he was released and returned to his regiment, he was in Atlanta when he was wounded severely on July 30, 1864. He was shot in the right thigh just above the knee. Bone was shattered and the wound was so severe that he lost his leg to above the knee. He was discharged from service in Indianapolis on May 29, 1865.

Here is the grave of George Riley Shank.
Born: September 17, 1826, Montgomery County, Virginia
Died: January 24, 1877, Morgantown, Morgan County, Indiana
He was the son of John Shank (1786-1835) and Nancy Doosing Shank (1790-1854). His father is buried on his own farm, John Shank Farm, in Eaton, Preble County, Ohio, while his mother is buried in Becam Cemetery in Damon, Brown County, Illinois.
He had at least one brother:
William Shank (1821-1906) - buried in Clayton South Side Cemetery, Adams County, Illinois. (He served in the Civil War as a Supply Sergeant for Sherman's Army.)

This grave is very worn and hard to read. It would appear that the child was the son of M.P. Sparks (?-?) and S.F. Sparks (?-?). I am not sure as to where they are buried or for that matter if the initials are right.

The headstone is very worn and hard to read, so I could not make out the first name. I could tell that there is a very nicely carved Freemason symbol at the top of the headstone.

Our final stop is at the grave of Elizabeth Jane Canatsey Wood.
Born: February 18, 1826, Morgan County, Indiana
Died: February 10, 1870
She was the daughter of Sampson Canatsey (?-1857) and Nancy Richards Canatsey (1802-1875). Both are buried in East Hill Cemetery. They were some of the early pioneers of Morgan County.
She had several siblings:
Sarah Canatsey Anderson (1819-1903) - buried in East Hill Cemetery, Morgan County, Indiana.
George Richard Canatsey (1822-1881) - buried in Iola Cemetery, Allen County, Kansas.
Leonard Jackson Canatsey (1823-1870) - buried in East Hill Cemetery, Morgan County, Indiana.
William Canatsey (1830-1851) - buried in East Hill Cemetery, Morgan County, Indiana
She was married twice. Her first husband was Sylvanus Day (1823-1851). They were married on June 28, 1846 in Morgan County, Indiana. He is buried in East Hill Cemetery.
Her second husband was William A. Wood (?-?). They were married on August 29, 1852 in Morgan County, Indiana.
