Pleasant View Cemetery

Today's Walk Through the Tombstones is at Pleasant View Cemetery in Unionville, Indiana.

We visited this cemetery on June 06, 2015.  It is a small cemetery with only about 150 interments.  The most notable part of this cemetery is the statue of the World War I soldier at the grave of Thomas and Raymond Riddle.  The statue is in surprisingly good condition save for a little damage to the hat.

Our first stop is at the grave of Maudie Prior.

Born: March 1, 1890
Died: September 11, 1890

She was the daughter of Beckie Prior (?-?).  I am unsure of any other family information or as to where her parents are buried.  There are no other Priors buried in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Next we stop at the grave of George W. Riddle.

Born: February 8, 1808
Died: February 8, 1892

He was married to Margret Johnson Riddle (1817-1862).  She is buried with him at Pleasant View Cemetery and her name is carved into the opposite side of the stone, but she also has a smaller stone to the side.

I noticed the day that I took these photos that her name is spelled differently.  On the monument with her husband her name is spelled "Margaret", but on the smaller headstone nearby, her name is spelled "Margret".

His brother is buried next to him, Thomas Forest Riddle.

Their parents were James A. Riddle (1848-1909) and Elizabeth Angeline Fleener Riddle (1853-1929).  They are both buried in Pleasant View Cemetery.
