Hillenburg Cemetery

Today's Walk Through the Tombstones is at the Hillenburg Cemetery in Monroe County, Indiana.  It is located in the Hoosier National Forest off of South Dutch Ridge Road.  The sign out front of the cemetery has it listed as the Hillenburg-Stephenson Cemetery.

We visited this cemetery on February 8, 2015.  This cemetery is listed as having 46 interments, most of them from the Hillenburg and the Stephenson Families.  Many of the graves are newer, though there are some older ones near the back treeline.

This is the grave of Margaret Hillenburg Hooshour.

Born: 1807, Wythe County, Virginia
Died: January 15, 1888, Monroe County, Indiana.

She was married to Daniel Hooshour (?-?).  I am not sure where he is buried.

There is an open book carved into the top of her stone with the words Holy Bible inscribed into it.  She was most likely a very religious person.

This is the grave of Margaret Weatherman.

Born: November 20, 1878
Died: November 13, 1894

Her headstone has a very interesting shape compared to many of the ones that I have seen in other cemeteries.  

There is an inscription on the base of the headstone, but I could not make it out.
