Shipley Cemetery

Today's Walk Through the Tombstones is at the Shipley Cemetery in Nashville, Indiana.  It is also known as the Kelp Cemetery and is located on Jackson Branch Ridge Road.  It is next to a small house, but is not on Private Property to my knowledge.

We stopped by the small cemetery of only about 27 interments on September 6, 2015.  There is no where to park, so we pulled off the side of the road.  Luckily, Jackson Branch Ridge Road is not very heavily traveled, so we didn't have to worry about being in the
way.

UPDATE:  Since I wrote this post, more information has been added for the Shipley family.  I have gone through and updated with that new information.  Thank you to the anonymous comment below which led me to take a look at the new information.

Our first stop is at the grave of Dorothy Allender.

Born: 1906
Died: 1923

Her grave is next to that of Floria Allender.  It would seem that they may have been sisters.

This Cemetery is the testing place to some of my ancestors. Jesse Shipley is my 3rd Great Grandfather. He was married first to a Mary Ann Hall, daughter of Jesse Hall Sr. They had 3 children, three first child they had was a daughter, Abashaba, my 2nd GGMA. I have Jesse's picture of him in his union outfit. He has an extensive battle record and was wounded at the Siege of Chattanooga. He came back home to Brown County and raised his family, married 3 times total.

Do you or anyone have any additional information with sources on Jesse's supposed father Isaac and mother Elizabeth? I would be so grateful for any additional records at this time!
